Ideal LLC Internship Application

Herd Management Internship

Time Commitment: Full time, internship. On average, 60-72 hours per week (flexible), 6 days per week.

Compensation: Competitive – based on experience and skill level

General Expectations: Exhibit a positive attitude, with a focus on participating as a productive and willing member of the team. Represent Ideal Dairy’s values; commitment to high quality milk production, exceptional animal care, valuing and respecting team members, stewardship of soil and water resources and promoting a positive view of agriculture.

Experiences & Responsibilities: Inclusive of, but not limited to the following

  • Lactating Cows
    • Assist with Calvings
    • Herd Health Check-ups with Veterinarian
    • Pen moves
    • Sorting Cows for Hoof Trimming & Dry Offs
    • Executing Vaccination Protocols
    • Cow Weights
  • Heifers
    • Assist with Treatment
    • Heifer Vet Checks
    • Treatment Entry in Dairy Comp 305
    • Heifer Pen Moves
  • Calves
    • Newborn Calf Care
    • Assist with Group Calf Care and Chores; 1 – 2 Days per week
    • Monitoring Calf Health and Assist in Administering Treatment
    • Recording & Tracking Calf Weights

Physical Requirements:  This can be a very physically demanding job, requiring at times moving baby calves weighing sometimes over 100 pounds, or maneuvering mature cows and lifting and carrying heavy items. We expect that you are physically able to perform your duties and responsibilities as they are identified above.

Crop and Equipment Operation & Maintenance Internship

Time Commitment: Full time, internship. On average, 60-72 hours per week (flexible), 6 days per week.

Compensation: Competitive – based on experience and skill level

General Expectations: Exhibit a positive attitude, with a focus on participating as a productive and willing member of the team. Represent Ideal Dairy’s values; commitment to high quality milk production, exceptional animal care, valuing and respecting team members, stewardship of soil and water resources and promoting a positive view of agriculture.

Experiences & Responsibilities: Inclusive of, but not limited to the following

  • Manure application and transfer using truck spreaders and/or the dragline system
  • Various tillage methods in preparation for planting
  • Driving trucks hauling feed, and/or packing trench during harvest
  • Routine equipment maintenance a simple repair
  • Assistance with equipment and building repairs- welding and carpentry
  • Assistance with trench maintenance, removing tires and plastic, feed staging etc…

Physical Requirements:  This can be a very physically demanding job, requiring at times lifting and carrying heavy items, or operating equipment for long hours. We expect that you are physically able to perform your duties and responsibilities as they are identified above.
